Ever Wonder?

Open Pollen Press Post 0.07

Excerpt from; Earth Dank Lit

‘Ja ever wonder?
…If seagulls tell their young
Of days gone past.
When Birds were as plentiful
as stars on a clear winter night?
(Remember when the sky was clear?)

Back in the day,
By the billions and billions and billions
Birds filled the sky.
Birds of every sort.
Vast diverse winged crews thriving.
Flocks so thick;
Shadowing the ground.

A grand, concordant,
cacophony of song
Arose.
Birds aplenty.
Co-habiating a permeating fecundity.

So many now,
never more.

Look out, today,
See maybe a remnant few,
Birds on a wire.
Still hanging in there,
in this coal mine world…

Compounding reTurn, Turn, Turn…
