A population that has allowed itself to be dumbed down to soundbyte thinking, is helpless in the face of persistent, calculated, well developed marketing. Well financed hucksters scientifically play on insecurities. All it takes is to develop juicy demographic targeted hooks and repeat, repeat, repeat. Custom-fit messaging algorithms. Dope the tumbling thoughts of confusion with pharmaceutical precision. Amplify bias. Nail the sub-groups. So important. Soon the target demographics will buy that “Down is up.!” “Rudeness is righteous!” “Greed is Good!” “Down is up!” “Money makes the world go round.” “Down is up!” “Equity and equality is unfair.” “Up has no downside!” And repeat. And again. And again repeat. Soon the target will be chanting “Down with Downside!”
Fear refugees, just like Fear B. O. sells. Fear! Soundbyte smokescreens to camouflage the structural root reality that drives 21st Century environmental and socio-economic migration. Fear! Witness Earth’s most dispossessed people, (Fear!) forced from now lost homes, by the well hedged and diversified, global financial behemoth; Earth raping, war machine market. Acknowledging that reality is really scary. Old Spice cures halitosis.
Caught in the small town decline, and the fishing ain’t what it used to be; blame it on the poor slug working a shit job at the feedlot slaughterhouse spitting out that grain feed shity burger, not on agribiz plowing up the family farm from “fence post to post.” As compounding debt, global oligarchs and trust fund swells enclose up the farmlands. Small towns, like the soil, dust to the wind.
Living as a structurally displaced, in the Information age’s technological wonderland breakdown, where working people are always running, running, maybe, if lucky, keeping up with the treadmill, in the “land of the free” begets; a cognitive dissonance. Dissonance hurts the brain. Sophisticated marketing, that plays on people’s insecurities, desires and fears, provides simplistic, emotionally comforting solutions that salves and soothes the mental dissonance. Delusional comfort blankets sell.
Screw the other dispossessed other is a surefire seller, just give it a little sizzle and repeat. Divide and conquer is an ever clanging bell. Empathetic connection is the oligarchy’s greatest fear. Divisions must be marketed, rudeness and violence normalized and promoted. “Us is smart and good. Them is bad and dumb. Fear them! Screw them!”
There are those who gladly “profit”(sic) from the declining commonweal and rising division and violence, gun play and war. They’ll ply their yachts to bunkered private islands, play their gilded penthouse games and crimes. So Buy! Buy! Buy! Just zone out on T.V. and tailored feeds and scrolling and games and shit… Be sure to visit your AI therapist!…Eat food from dead soil farms. Get your processed. prepackaged, lab augmented, trick your taste buds, crappy feed. Taste the Satisfaction! Taste the Satisfaction!
